Contrary to reports on other rugby websites that new Springbok coach Peter de Villiers is currently in Toulon, a media advisory from SA Rugby says that he is currently undertaking a week long tour which will see him meeting with all the local Super 14 teams.

De Villiers started his series of visits in Durban on Monday, where he and Andy Marinos, the manager of national teams at SA Rugby, had an informal meeting with the Sharks coach and full squad of the Durban-based Super 14 franchise team.

The Springbok coach is due to meet the Blue Bulls team in Pretoria on Tuesday and the Lions at Ellis Park on Wednesday. De Villiers will remain in Johannesburg to attend the media launch of the FNB Varsity Cup competition on Thursday.

On Friday evening he will join the Minister of Sport in Paarl at a mayoral reception in his honour in an event organised by the Drakenstein Municipality He returns to Cape Town on Friday and will travel to Bloemfontein on Monday for a similar meeting with the Cheetahs.

De Villiers ends his tour around the country with a visit next Tuesday morning to the Stormers camp.

His schedule for next Tuesday also include a courtesy meeting with the players and management staff of the SA Under-20 team at their training camp in Saldana on the West Coast.

De Villiers leaves on Friday February 8 for a 10-day visit to Europe, where he'll meet local club and international team coaches.

Bringing unity between the provincial union seems to be high on his priority list, and rightly so.
Very people orientated this guy.

I wonder why he wants to meet with European unions?

Probably to check on the local talent over there- guys like Matfield and Smit seem to be, by what he`s said in the press, very much still in the running for Bok caps under De Villiers.

Or he could just be escaping Eishkom`s load shedding.......
