interested in what everyones involvement in rugby is, if at all.

So do you/have you:

Play/played?
Coach/coached?
Only Watch/support?

How long have you Played/Coached?

What position you are/were?

Me:

Played: about 35 years - stopped four years ago, nothing amazing bit serious in the UK (a national 3 club, and some international touch rugby (I know, i know)), played just socially for the last 10 years or so.
Position: Flyhalf (in case you hadn't guessed).

Coached: for 6 (with a couple of cracks earlier when i was playing), just a social team, plays in a closed corporate league against some university sides, police etc...it's a reasonable standard, some of it poor, some of it exceptionally competitive. so it goes.

Played sporadically at school, years 7-11, but then not at all through sixth form.
Played rugby league for years 2-4 at University.
Now play whenever I can fit it in around work.

Outside centre is my position of choice, but I've played a fair bit of wing this season (despite not having the pace for it at all :p) and a bit of fullback as well - filling in for injuries. Very social level (can't remember what our league is called but it's one of the ones with a lot of names, so like Midlands North 2 South 4 East 2 North West 4) but I enjoy it.

Played throughout School to a variable standard (from average to relatively high) from age 8 onwards, including a couple of sevens tournaments - played a few social games with an OB's until I ****ed my AC joint and have only played once since.
Started as a prop for my first year then went to 6 for most of that time, with a bit at lock. I have terrible ball handling but can tackle, ruck and scrummage very well if I do say so myself. ;)

Played since I was 10 years old, now 35!

Always been a hooker, played a season for county at colts level, but took three years out when making the step from colts to senior, was too skinny and light. Did kick boxing for those three years. But the rugby won me back.

Been playing ever since for local amateur club, and captain the second team.

I've been playing since I was 6 (am 22 now). Played all through the pack in junior level but now settled as a (lightweight) lock or six. I play every weekend throughout the season, so right now my body is in quite a mess.

Occasionally try and be a 13 in friendlies. Usually ends badly.

Start at age 11, then school first 15 and sevens, then Old Boys, went to France and played for Antibes from 73/74 to 86, started at 10 and 15 ended last 6 years playing 6 or 7,( retired age 35) which are the two best posts on the park did a bit of coaching with the same French club. Now club official for Montpellier, look after press accreditions, press stand during match, post match interviews and write articles on clubs website in English, also done match announcements in English for H Cup and Amlin, and attend press day training every week thoughout the season.

Started six years ago in grade 10, and for our local men's team two years ago. We play in Niagara C division, which by my count is 5 levels down from the top provincial league. Bottom of the barrel but it's reasonably close competition among the teams at that level. I started out playing lock, last year I split time between lock and wing. I've also played flanker the odd time. I'm not particularly good, but I get to play quite often due to lack of players.

ah Antibes ? Fantastic town, one of my best friend lives there and I've gone every summer since 2004.

No never played. I remember as a kid though, my dad used to bring me and my bro out in the garden to play scrums. Obviously he barely pushed, and we had to push hard as fk to get the ball back :p that's the most I've ever played in my life. Played basketball my whole adolescence...

Played for 8 years now I think started out as a prop and have now been shifted back to 2nd row and occasionally 8. I used to play at clubs and school until last year when the club system when to **** and I only play with school now. The standard is decent, we're the best school in singapore but I doubt that would amount to much elsewhere. It's nowhere near as intensive as schools rugby in Ireland and UK would be theres no S&C programs and training is only 2/3 times a week while gym and fitness work is expected in free times its not mandatory.

Started playing rugby a bit late (17) always played lock :) i joined a team from Brussels. I enjoyed my rugby for three years there. But stopped due to a weak knee and shoulder issues. Was around 2010.

After a little break I played a bit of GAA and since last year I replaced the teamsport by Thai box and I'm planning of adding BJJ to it as well.

My rugby team existed mostly of expats and most of my buddies are gone. As well the fact that work is taking over.

I do watch a lot of rugby and maybe when I have kids I might consider coaching.

Did you play for the barbarians or Celts? I played three years in Belgium and did some skill coaching for barbarians. Played a lot of touch for the Celts.

Haven't really played since I started college. Was a decent 12 at one point, but I got a bit more into the GAA and then absolutely bollocked my knee about two years ago (still happens occasionally too, icing it at we speak) so I haven't had the time or inclination for a while now.

May be starting a postgrad job in the UK after the summer though, so I'm tempted to get back into it for the social side if nothing else.

i still play rugby i started playing when i was 12 and been playing for 5 years started the first season as a second row but this season i was moved to a blindside flanker. i aint the best you'll see but i do give all my games 100% effort and playing for scotland will always be my biggest dream

Started at minis when I was 8 because I was too clumsy for Football and gymnastics. Stopped when I was 15 because I was a foot shorter than everyone else. Joined the Army a few years later and had grown a bit by then so played a few games at squadron level but nothing serious. Left the army and went to live in a new area decided the best way to meet people was go to the local rugby club and had some great times playing and socializing. Quit when I got to 30 after a few injuries and was getting hassle from work. Started again in my mid 30's and now I just play the odd vets/reunion game. Never been a big watcher, only seen a handful of Internationals and go to Welford rd when I get the chance which isnt much these days due to having 3 small kids!

Started when I was 10 and have played since. The vast majority at prop (mostly loosehead) but one half at hooker, 3 games at lock and a game and a half at 8. Started JCT for one of the "big six" schools in Leinster and was involved in the SCT squad for 3 years but did my MCL to weeks before the cup in this my final year. Played one game for a Leinster u17 side against a Cardiff side with Cory Allen. Will hopefully play 20s with a club side next year.

Hence the obvious choice of name.

Judo an wrestling for my childhood, rugby at University (openside flanker and wrestling/judo coach for the team) for 2 years, back to grappling. I'm an individualist, so I can't stand some rugby issues.

Good choice. With Gi on is more technical/tactical, no GI is more physical.

I played/play fullback and wing, because I'm smallish and seriously lacking in bulk (I'm still sub-10 stone). I initally started chucking a ball around the garden and during school lunches in Year 8, and started playing for a local team in Year 11. I continued playing whilst in Year 12, during which time we reached a Cup Final for the first time in the age group's history. I'd been brought on on the wing at half-time and hadn't been given a lot to do. We were 5 down with about three minutes to play against a side we'd already beaten twice that season already, play was at the edge of our 22 line. They realised they had a huge overlap that could well win them the game down my wing and their fly-half threw a huge misspass. This was when I saw my chance and shot in for the intercept. I took it and sprinted downfield. I was at the edge of their 22 and was just beginning to think about what kind of dive under the posts I should do when I realised just how close the defenders were to me. This was when I, spur of the moment decision, did the stupidest thing anyone in an u18s second division game could do, and slowed down to look for support. There was nobody within 30 yards of me and their winger caught me and dragged me to ground. I tried an audacious offload towards the wing in the hope one of our players would scoop it up and score in the corner, leveling the game. The ball bobbled into touch, they claimed the line-out and kicked it out for full time. They won. I have not played rugby since.
