Wales centre Matthew Watkins has joined Newport Gwent Dragons from Gloucester on a two-year contract.

I think this is a good signing for the Dragons. Watkins adds valuable experience to a very inexperiences backline. They were appearing very short at centre due to Stcherbina having to retire, and Sidey, Maule and Dollman leaving. They literally had two centres remaining in their squad in Ashley Smith and Gomer Davies, both youngsters. It's not as if there's an abundance to Welsh qualified centres floating around at the moment for them to sign. Dafydd James would have been a good signing for them too, but for some reason the Blues have got him!
