Romania - Spain 29-8 An unlikely scenario in this match: Romania was second best in the scrum but dominated the opposition in open play. The bad scrum performance was due to Howells using a lossehead as number 3 (A. Ursache), once a proper tighthead came on (Pungea), the Spanish scrum was butchered. For once, the Oaks went for the 5 points from the start and sent numerous kickable penalties into touch. Congratulations to Spain, they were a worthy opponent and I think they will easily win against Portugal and Germany and maybe even trouble the Georgians in Madrid. Very poor performance from some of the Romanian players (in particular Calafeteanu who missed almost all his kicks and was a slow distributor as usual) but our team was able to change its usual tactic and execute a gameplan I did not think we were capable of. Very good defense that was not troubled at all by the Spanish backs and this might be the first time when I can nominate our backs (but in particular Fercu, Gal and Apostol) among the best on the pitch.
