England 2024/25

I wonder how many players feel like he's instructing the wrong tactics or bench and or subs. I'm sure no one would ever say anything but SB comes across as too green in this role and players from decent clubs must be worried or annoyed.

Does say that they'll be joined by a select few from the main squad, so there'll be a few that won't be involved in the game

By position:

Loosehead: Emmanuel Iyogun,
Hooker: Nathan Jibulu, Curtis Langdon, Gabriel Oghre
Tighthead: Afolabi Fasogbon, Joe Heyes, Vilikesa Sela
Lock: Joe Batley,
Backrow: Greg Fisilau, Ted Hill, Tom Pearson, Henry Pollock, Tom Willis
Scrumhalf: Archie McParland, Will Porter
Flyhalf: Charlie Atkinson, Jamie Shillcock
Wing: Gabriel Ibitoye, Cadan Murley, Tom Roebuck
Centre: Oscar Beard, Fraser Dingwall, Max Ojomoh
Fullback: Joe Carpenter

Asher feels nailed on to drop down and play loosehead,
One of Ewels or Coles to drop down as well, and Hill to probably play lock considering how many backrowers there are
Wouldn't be surprised if Finn Smith drops down to get some game time too (hopefully not at the expense of Carpenter getting a start, with Shillcock shifting to 15)

This would go hard:

Iyogun, Langdon, Heyes
Batley, Coles
Hill, Pearson, Willis
Porter, Atkinson
Murley/Ibitoye*, Ojomoh, Beard, Roebuck
Carpenter

Oghre, Opoku-Fordjour, Fasogbon, Fisilau, Pollock, McParland, Shillcock, Murley/Ibitoye

*Would probably be my starting wings but both play 11 almost exclusively

Surely the likes of Fin Smith and AOF will come in

Edit: Just realised you mentioned it after.

I'd say Northmore, Lozowski, JvP could also potentially come down. Is there criteria for the A squad, like number of senior caps?

Don't think so, the only thing they've really said is that it's to bridge the gap between age grade and senior

On that front I'd say we're unlikely to see Lozowski or JvP drop down, but then we saw Ewels last time so all bets are off

It's a significantly better coaching group this time round though so hoping they're a bit more switched on

Will of course also depend on if anyone has any fitness issues this week that means a player is needed to be involved against South Africa or to be on standby to be involved.

I would have liked to have seen Seb Atkinson or Anyanwu in the team

Probably, playing devil's advocate Ojomoh was in the EPS on the injured list and Dingwall has been in/around the squad for a while - not like they've not been picked behind bodies

That said I don't really rate Dingwall at this level and Ojomoh has been injured for a while
Should be Atkinson and Anyanwu

Looking forward to the A match although in some ways it's a shame it's not being played at HQ as a curtain raiser to the senior teams, especially with the high ticket prices. I'm sure modern pitches could cope with that.

Is Ireland the only other A fixture planned? There need to be more.

Maybe I am a bit of, but will butt would of been nice to see to me, started the season well as an actual 12, has size and only 24, over ojomoh for me personally not on potential but one what I have actually seen. Anyanwu would of been nice as well especially since its a relatively rare profile. Not really sure what we learn from dingwall, tried in the seniors and more of a steady eddy than someone who looks like he could really take his game to the next level with a stand out trait.

Finn smith should proabbly go at 10 and bench atkinson. If they drop ewels down and starts I will have to believe it is a bit and borthwick is just having a laugh at that point. Backrow looks very good on paper.

I'm the opposite. I don't see Butt as a 12 and when watching Bath, all I saw was a wing playing at centre. He was a battering ram and little more in my opinion. I don't think we should be looking for a 1 dimensional player at 12, certainly at international level

Something something Jamie Roberts best 12 ever something something only ever perpendicular to the try line.
