Wild how many players seem to love Eddie and how many mention Borthwick and spreadsheet in the same sentence.

I do think EJ had his favourites and Ben Youngs was one of those. But still poor by Borths but not a shock.

It kinda weirds me out. Jones seemed to be a little bit psychopathic, like the CEO of a large company, but most of the players that he's coached have nothing bad to say about him.

As a fan he should have moved on after 2019 - the results speak for themselves - and giving out weird caps like Lewis Ludlow (!) while ignoring other players just highlighted his stubbornness. Peculiar time to be an England fan, and not a nice type of peculiar.

Then again you have other players who seem to indicate Jones could also lack empathy. Brookes and that guy who had a career ending injury didn't seem all that pleased with him. I guess with any coach, you will get personality clashes somewhere.

I just don't get how as a club coach you could be cold about that, like I get it from a national team pov you don't see him every day

"I guess if it wasn't written on a data sheet, Steve didn't compute." Is very brutal but I mean it's a running joke on here for a reason, it seems to fit his personality

Personally I think England saved Borthwick from a mediocre season with Tigers after the prem win

On Eddie I think it’s clear he had favourites Youngs was one of them, but same time I am slightly more concerned about the current head coach more than anything. I don’t like this weird coaching roundabout. Walters and Jones ditching him and Wigglesworth and Sir Kev being kept in token roles

Definitely since around 2019 it seems like we haven't had a stable coaching setup. Jones ended his time on a merry-go-round of coaches, it continued little under Borthwick, but now instead of replacing people it's shuffling them round like they are a Prime Minister's Cabinet. I don't see how the players can benefit from this, especially when you have such a short amount of time to get your ideas across and embedded into a team.

Well he seems to have the coaches he wants now (taken its time) but i would hope we see a bit of stability now...

El Abd moved to Forwards coach is a very good move.
Blackett in at attack is great.

Wigglesworth....hhmm well not sure how he comes up at D coach but we shall see...and im sure El Abd will be part of that aswell.

This Autumn series is going to be a meaningful one in my opinion. After a good summer tour they really need to put down a big marker with the full squad available.

The head coach’s job is probably 5% coaching, 45% organisational and outward facing and 50% man management.

In the first part of his reign Jones was clearly very good at the man management - with some and I’d say views probably depend on whether the individual player responded better to carrot or stick.

As for SB. Well there are no excuses this season for not delivering results and performances. Although perhaps a sweepstake on when ‘Lions hangover’ first gets trotted out.

It's definitely going to be said along with 'tired, long season' 'Not much rest'. Probably not from the Welsh, so it'll be Faz, Gregor, or Borths in the sweepstake.

Jones was very good at identifying who needed shouting at, and who needed an arm around them. He then just seem to go all in on the malicious mind games with the 'Haribo' story and so on.

Borthwick has pretty much had his coaches from the start

England payed Tigers good money to get them, then he had Felix Jones who is considered world class

Tbh RFU have been very accommodating in getting Borthwick his coaches I feel

Jones and Walters are both world class but both didn't like the setup that was created by the sounds of it and left to join rival nations.

Based on England's summer, the Lions and the Rugby Championship it certainly seems like the gap has closed between the top 6 or 7 and that actually anyone on their day has a good chance of beating one of the other teams. Certainly no one is performing consistently at the moment. The autumn will show us if England are on an upward trend or simply had a good summer and are stuck between mediocre and good.
