17 Ross Harrison (Sale Sharks, uncapped)
18 Jamal Ford-Robinson (Bristol Rugby, uncapped)

20 Ben Curry (Sale Sharks, uncapped)
21 Mark Wilson (Newcastle Falcons, uncapped)
22 Richard Wigglesworth (Saracens, 27 caps)
23 Mike Haley (Sale Sharks, uncapped)

15 uncapped in the 23 - not a problem so long as everyone is suitably understanding that the result is somewhat secondary.

Can't see the logic in Wigglesworth but since the alternative is Heinz...

Tom wood sent off in the saints game for stamping so hopefully he misses the tour.

Not his finest hour.

But Lawes, at last, is looking like the player I thought he'd become 5 years ago. Brilliant performance and 3 consecutive MoMs. Head and shoulders the best English lock at the moment.

Hope he misses the tour.

Classless reaction from him.

Can't believe some Saints fans thought he was play acting.

Just seen this on YouTube. It's not quite the vicious kick to the head I was expecting, but what was he thinking? Classless reaction indeed.

I would imagine he'll be suspended and will miss the tour.

If I were Eddie, I'd take Beaumont to replace Haskell and then Wilson to replace Wood. Beaumont can cover 8 and lock and Wilson can cover 6, 7 and 8.

Well let's look positively, at least some of the other players called up will definitely get a chance now. Hope someone takes it.

I think you'll find most England fans would see Wood being absent as definite positive!

I used to think he got a hard time but over the years there have been a few d**k moves - last night being another one.

A few things also suggest he's not well liked by other pros.

Fair point. However my concern is that the back row is our major area of weakness. We have some experienced players, who are starting to get the wrong side of 30 and then the next options it seems that Jones is looking at are 20 or younger realistically. I does seem a big gamble and while there may be issues with Wood, at least he's a known quantity.

A known quantity yes, but known to be average to poor in an England shirt. He has the odd good game interspersed with lots of not so good ones.

I am curious to see what impression Mark Wilson has made in camp. For me, he's one of the closest to replicating Robshaw's game at 6. At 27, he's definitely young enough and is the model of consistency at AP level. Whether he can translate that to test rugby is another question, but he's good enough to warrant being tried IMO and I'd argue that he often looks better than capped flankers such as Wood and even Moriarty.

I also wonder whether Don Armand is on the radar? With the play-offs he's been unavailable for selection but he's been one of the Chief's Best players and another good game today might tempt Eddie.

Wilson would have the advantage of having spent the past week or so with Eddie though I imagine.

I'm interested to see Underhill at 7 tomorrow, but it's worth noting that he's mainly been playing at 6 for Ospreys.

Underhill at 6 and Ben or Tom Curry at 7 might be the future?

Williams more likely imo, he's been around the EPS recently and has the lineout game too (probably the only thing we'll miss wood for).

Lineouts will be interesting - 1st 2nd and 3rd choice lineout captains away

Ewers is injured again so he has no chance.

I'm not sure Williams is rated that highly anymore? As you say he's been in and out of the EPS, but if Eddie wanted to add him after the play-off semis, presumably he would have been chosen ahead of Wilson?

Plus he wasn't selected for the original touring squad. When Eddie clearly wants to look at the back row, it would appear he's a way down the list.

The other option who seems to have slipped off of the radar is Timmy Harrison. He wasn't available up until now due to Saints' European qualifiers, but now he is, he could be parachuted in for Wood. I'd rather Wilson, but it's a possibility ...

I remembered not long after posting it, decent club player.

Says it all that I couldn't remember who he was at first, doesn't it?
