The competition is receiving a bit of hype, ramped up on the likelihood of the Red Roses winning the tournament. And they should - won 57 out of their last 58 games, are at home and have thrown the resources at this. TBH anything less than winning the trophy would have to be regarded as a failure.

What I can't quite get my head around is whether this England team is simply superb or if they're being made to look disproportionately good by the paucity of the opposition. I think it's probably a bit of both, but more of the latter. Maybe they've simply stolen a march in getting their act together the way the ABs did when the men's game went pro.

I might catch the odd match here and there, but if I do pay any real attention to this it probably won't be until at least the semis.

women's rugby tier 1 is solely Canada, England, and New Zealand.

Ireland has improved drastically and the us, Australia, and France are in the same ballpark. After that it's a pretty steep drop off.

I think it's a toss up whether or not we make it though as this a real group of death.

That tackled player playing the ball thing is huge in America right now. They never do it right and either knock it on or fail to release the ball. And people go berserk when they aren't allowed to do it.

No replays of the hit is pretty lame, I missed it

Is it cause it's a HIA so they don't want to potentially glorify an injury? Or just BBC being naff at live directing?
