England vs Australia - 09/11/24

Just noticed it's 12. Slade 13. Lawrence, as well - wasn't that way round last week was it?

Bench is better with Sleighthome and LCD. Nice to see an unchanged XV.

Don't think Ben Curry deserved dropping.

Nothing against Dombrandt but i really don't see how he keeps getting in the 23. Not that we have many 8 options.

Quite happy with the bench change. Feel more comfortable with the 5-3 split.

I wish Fin Smith was on the bench instead of George Ford. Oh well.

With only 2 changes, one of which is enforced, England must win. I'd have dropped Dombrandt personally. Borthwick is really trusting his players here.

It instinctively looks better this way around - just need to see how it works on the pitch.

3 backs on the bench!
At last!
Which god do I owe libations to?

Noticed Slade was at 12 and assumed Lawrence had been brought in, can't remember much from him on Saturday. I can't get my head around that. Makes sense to want Lawrence at 13 but surely there won't be a positional change?!

Seeing a lot of Joe Schmidt is waiting in the long grass type comments around the place. Can't see it, don't think he has the tools.

Borthwick is already under a lot of pressure after New Zealand. If Australia win on Saturday that pressure will be dialled up a lot more.

Think Lawrence spent most of the NZ game at the bottom of a ruck, remember looking at the stats and he'd made about 10 more tackles than anyone else in the game
Ah might make sense then and see a switch. Don't want your explosive midfield runner playing as an extra backrow all game.

Like the consistency.

Like LCD back. Was Dan ruled out through injury? Like Sleightholme. Only bone of contention is B Curry v Dombrandt.

Loving the total nonsense of a VC on the bench. In fact the VC stuff is about the only thing to complain about…..until kick off.

Some weird Borthwick calls, feels like he's doing a bit of Jones style trolling tbh. Ben Curry was the pick of the subs, I'd have retained him over Dombrant who is another who's flattered to deceive in an England shirt. At least if he comes on do it when Smith is on still who have familiarity.

Shirt numbers with Slade and Lawrence aren't hugely relevant as they tend to alternate in attack and D anyhow. While the Aussies are in decline the fixture has banana skin written all over it, but at home Wngland should be putting them away. Shame about Theo Dan who I assume is following return to play protocols, LCD was getting on for replacing George as first choice pick at hooker much like George displaced Hartley, but hasn't regained close to the form he had prior to injury and leaving Exeter from what I've seen.

Didn't realise just how good our record against Australia had been recently. 1 loss in the last 11 games.

I wouldn't have had Ford on the bench instead of F Smith and I agree about B Curry and Dombrandt.
Oh well…..onwards and upwards 😳
