How did we get to this travesty that we call a scrum?

Props focusing on getting the hit rather actual test of strength. Can't remember the last time I saw a driving scrum.

Biggest thing is I can't remember the last time I saw the scrum half throw the ball into through channel in a scrum.

There's such a narrow sighted views to scrums in the modern game. The only focus is on the initial hit and forcing your opponent down (extremely unsafe I might add.)

My question is why has the game devolved from a dynamic attacking platform to this narrow sighted formality of possession?
As well what effects would actually enforcing this law have on the modern scrum.

I personally feel that it would force teams to be more dynamic.

I think it's all down to players being coached to win penalties at scrum time instead of trying to win the ball. Referees have a hell of a lot to look out for during a scrum these days so it's a case of refereeing what matters and a safe scrum is what matters. Just my opinion, not based on fact, or anything resembling logical thought for that matter.:)
