...Remember how good the rugby we saw today was.

This is what we want to see - this is what we need to encourage.
The number of tries isn't the goal - it's the style of play which leads to them that people want to see.

Because I know that in a few months time someone will talk about not wanting the game to be basketball.

Haha, typical tigers fan...I can't believe none of the commentators have pointed out that the games today were all brilliant because the teams HAD to score tries...I know some traditionalists will resist it, but if we want to see Six Nations games like these we need to introduce bonus points, so that teams have to go for tries in EVERY game.

Whilst not disagreeing about bonus points (already discussed on another thread), the top 4 teams had to score points against Italy and Scotland and contain the points as between themselves to win the championship and Ireland did enough to win on points.................

Would be interesting if someone worked out what the finishing order would have been if there was a three try differential to get a bonus point and also with four tries scored and then if there was also a losing bonus point where the losers ended within seven!!!

I cannot be bothered to do it!!!

Well, England would have got 3 bonus points, Ireland two and Wales two, so England would have won.

Oops, I forgot we only got 3 against Scotland, so I guess it would have come down to points anyway!

My Maths say Wales win the tournament thanks to loosing bonus points against England (England didn't get their's against Ireland) and Ireland's inability to score try's. I think Wales winning on bonus points would of been very dissatisfying as it wouldn't of mattered what happened in the last game.

Yeah, no bonus points in the 6nations please. In all honesty, today was more exciting than anything produced previously this 6nations but the games between England, Wales and Ireland were all better games of rugby in terms of quality. It's days like this that will bring in the supporters and they should be more common but the aforementioned games were better for rugby fans.

Sort of, but if the 6n teams play this style regularly they would improve at it and you'd see an increase in quality in a preferable style of play.

Oops. I forgot we only beat Wales by 5 - it seemed more comfortable than that.

I am all for this style of rugby continuing with certain refinements and support the inclusion of bonus points with the proviso that no amount of try bonus points trumps a Grand Slam. I appreciate the chess match element of rugby, but all chess and no harum-scarum is a pointless place to be.

no point blaming the National teams tough, these players will go back to their clubs and trudge through the next two months scared to put a foot wrong for fear of never playing again.

Our clubs are the biggest problem here......

Will Ford and JJ? Prime examples of people playing like they do for their club and Baths style of play requires them to carry on playing that way.

I don't agree, there were twice as many tries in the Premiership as there were in the first 3 rounds of Six Nations games. If you think about it, most of the teams in the premiership, save Leicester and Saracens, play an attacking game whenever the weather permits.

Not blaming anyone, just pointing out the principle reason why the error rate goes up more than it should when they do play with a degree of endeavor.

Peat, I was thinking the same way as you before this weekend, but that would still allow a very well organized team to kick their way to the title. It's also mathematically hard to set up.

fair enough, let's see if that keeps up now we're hitting the business end of the season.

perhaps, perhaps not... Bath normally go off the boil about now anyway.

Usually due to playing well during the 6 nations and everyone's internationals go away and ours aren't selected. Then the problems start when other teams get theirs back. Opposite problem this year. Proof will be if we can make top 4 I think which we should do considering the run it.

I don't really have a problem with that. I don't want to do away with organisation and kicking, I just want to add a bit of balance.

And how do you mean mathematically hard to set up?
