Australia, August 17, 2008 - Last week we reported exclusively on an Aussie retail leak about the new 80GB PS3 being due to be released in Australia on 28 August for $699. Unsurprisingly this report turned out to be spot on, as Sony recently distributed a press release confirming the price and date as being identical to our earlier report.

In addition the press release reveals that it will be a DUALSHOCK 3 controller that is bundled in with the new 80GB system. In other news, Microsoft today announced its new 60GB Xbox 360 Pro console is now available for $499 (replacing the 20GB console).

Ps3 a rip off they're going for about $800nz just for the console and $100 a game but why pay that when you can get a Xbox360 for $400 for the console and same price for the games. I really want to wait for a Ps3 but that price is just killing me and it's been out for long enough to have a price drop but Sony wanna be rip offs ********.

60gb should be out in nz within the next few days

from microsoft nz
The Xbox 360 Pro console now comes with triple the storage space of the original 20GB Pro console, but at the same recommended retail price of $549 (RRP). The new units are shipping into retail stores as of today.

About 500NZD with Wii Sports in NZ (although you can get bundles with an extra game for about $540)

In Oz they sell for about 400AUD with Wii Sports (which is around $440 NZD).

In New Zealand we get ripped off.
