Yes, i know boring crap rugby, but he has won Super Rugby twice, and Currie Cup once.
And he has even World Cup coaching experience now with Fiji. And more overseas experience with Japanese side Kubota Spears.

That makes him qualified in my book.

Erm... I'm a staunch Bulls Supporter and a big fan of Ludeke (probably because he comes from my hometown). But I don't think he's our best option. I think he has done the right thing to travel a bit and learn some new ideas and see where he can improve as a coach. But for me he's in the same boat as AC.

If I was to pick a successor for AC today, I'd bring back Heyneke Meyer or Jake White, maybe even get John Mitchell. One thing we need is discipline and structure....

Jake White is a good coach with a track record.
What about Nick Mallet? He's no slouch.

He said he'll never coach again, because it's too much stress and he refuses to coach with all the politics at play in SA Rugby.

Ludeke has a good 1st class record and would no doubt be a good coach, but I see him as the same type of coach as HM, only the latter being better.

Not that I am on the calls for a replacement for AC as of yet (however - I will definitely feel like that next time we lose I DON'T CARE WHO WE PLAY), but I would ideally want HM back, even if that is the farthest-fetched dream, even further than Jake's reappointment.

It should be said that last week's performance by the team on the pitch cannot really be put on the coach (ill-discipline, unforced errors, etc.). Faf De Klerk was woeful compared to his own standards. Elton.. (bleh). We are literally our own enemy on the field, because whenever we somehow win back the ball or gain even a little momentum, we let ourselves down by committing unforced errors. Something I'm sure every coach dies a silent death in the box when he sees it happening.

However, from a game management sense and defensive point of view, it is pretty clear these players are not WELL EQUIPPED to handle the challenges presented to them on match-days and that can solely be aligned to the coaches.

A realistic view would be to replace his assistants. Johann Van Graan looks more like he should be the physio. I don't even recall ever seeing Mzwandile Stick, but I am picturing him wearing dreadlocks. Their expertise are NOWHERE on the field, and as such they need the boot. And in turn I would make Johann Ackerman the forwards coach and perhaps his (tactical) assistant - Swys De Bruin - the backline coach.

I've listened to a few interviews of Ackerman and I have a feeling he has something up his sleeve for next season.

When everyone was calling for HM to go i sat there wondering "but who will be better than him?". It turned out that constantly improving is not on the minds of SARU. I would have liked to see HM get an 8 year stint.

They should get in specialist coaches because you can bet all your money that AC is going to stay no matter what results they get. Someone like breakdown coach Richie Gray. Or a specialist catching coach, Sumo wrestler, Benni Mcarthy as a fitness coach etc. You get my point. AC is going to stay so lets improve the staff around him to improve specific areas of our game.

Ackerman is the future. We have to cope until he has enough experience to take over.
