Game Refuses To Start

Hey guys, I've got a really strange problem.

Basically, whenever I try to boot the PC Retail version of the game it will automatically redirect me to the game's Steam Page, telling me to buy the game from Steam. I tried removing steam_.api.dll but it then comes up with an error saying that the file is required to start the game. I've tried starting the game up in French and the same problem occurs. Strangely enough, the Editor works fine, probably because it's an entirely different application.

Looking forward to seeing if anybody has a fix for this.

You do need to activate the retail game via Steam using the key code on the reverse of the QuickStart guide. Have you tried just using the key code to download the game directly from Steam? Once yo have set up an account with Steam which is free?

This is worrying. I've gotten the game second hand which could very well be the reason that this has happened. I already have a Steam account, by the way.

The game will be registered to the person who you bought the game from and will be in their Steam account. So you should return the game to them.
