gday guys, firstly im sorry as i'm sure you've had plenty of these threads before.
i havent played rugby since i was about 12, currently 19, ive always been a huge watcher and supporter but in terms of playing im basically brand new. currently at uni and looking to get back into playing because im sick of being a lazy **** and think i would enjoy the social side of things, not surprisingly I have a few questions.
at school i played lock as i was one of the tallest and biggest on the team, now i'm 6'2" and roughly 90kg, am i tall enough to still play second row? feel i'm probably a bit borderline. because of this i've thought about playing blindside (i realise this is all simply in my head as if i did join a club the coach will likely put me where he wants me...) but although i'm not super slow i'm definitely not quick, is speed essential to play blindside?
i'm extremely unfit and i know i need to strengthen up and get to a good fitness level before i start playing. i'm from NZ so the seasons already well underway so i think its probably a good idea to improve my strength/fitness this season and start playing next, how does that sound to you?
how would you go about getting a basic fitness level, weights schedule?
any advice is appreciated, cheers
