Many of you will be familiar with the ARU's famous "Forward Pass" video. Well now the iRB has released their own, and it backs the ARU video up 100%
[TEXTAREA]2:07: "The referee must judge a forward pass purely on the passing action of the passer, and not be influenced by the movement of the ball relative to the ground"[/TEXTAREA]
Now I am not interested in getting into another long an protracted debate about what the Law means. We all know that the way the Law is written is ambiguous. However, with the publication of this video by the iRB, the opponents of momentum can no longer argue that its just a Southern Hemisphere thing, and that it doesn't apply in "their" country.
This video would seem to indicate that the iRB officially endorses the momentum view. Total Rugby educates and informs fans and the general public alike about many aspects of our game.
1. It is an official publication of the iRB.
2. It is broadcast on television all over the world.
3. It is available on the iRB website.
4. Its content is endorsed by the iRB
I find it difficult to believe that the iRB would allow information relating to what referees are supposed to rule to appear in its major public Rugby video if that information wasn't correct.
