An aspect of scoring that is rarely seen nowadays, how does it work? What is the process of it?
Penalty try.
A penalty try is awarded if a try would probably have been scored but for foul play by the defending team.
A penalty try is awarded if a try would probably have been scored in a better position but for foul play by the defending team.
A penalty try is awarded between the goal posts. The defending team may charge the conversion kick after a penalty try.
Is there anything else you wanted to know?
So if the kicker missed, then no 5 points?
Erm....not quite.
You get 5 points for the Try, then another 2 for the conversion, 7 in total.
If the kicker misses the conversion then you just get 5 points instead of 7.
One thing to note from a scoring point of view is that a Penalty Try isn't accredited to any particular player, it is just accredited to the team.
We see penalty tries pretty much on a weekly basis in every competition - it's not in the slightest a rarity.
well nobody's touched on the penalty try figure that comes from a scrum, but that's included in this:
"A penalty try is awarded if a try would probably have been scored but for foul play by the defending team."
When a defending pack keeps fkn around in the scrum to illegally avoid the pressure of the offensive pack, and they're close to the try line, and the scrums have been reset a few times already, the little goblin referee blows his whistle and runs towards the posts like a proud class A student and signals 5 points have been awarded to the attacking team.
And then of course you see the captain of the defending team jogging up to the ref and following him around like a suckerfish, like he's got anything interesting to say, but still does, whining like a small bish.
Here's a scrum penalty try example here, at 10:00
Note: that's the time when everything was normal in Rugby and France had a dominant scrum and the Wallabies just took it like bishes in there. Rugby gods have decided to MOTHERFK....sorry, I mean, the Rugby gods have decided to change...that.
