    Turmoil stalks the world as sources of funding dry up, investors are stung into silence and big corporate clients withdraw as the belts tighten. Many industries are affected and sport is no exception with many sports suffering from crippling debt, overspend or both. Rugby Union, a rapidly growing sport world-wide, is no exception to the rule and this article will try and cover the situation across the world and how it may shape Rugby in the next four years.

    The first in this multi-part series will look at the situation in English domestic rugby where the decline of sterling and an oncoming recession are starting to hurt the Guinness Premiership.
