does any1 know if ireland are considering putting a team together for the sevens at 2012 olympics or not i actually reckon they could win silverware if they competed.

I'd imagine they will do for 2016.
Not sure how well they'd go considering they aren't part of the 7s circuit so will be a way behind the likes of New Zealand, South Africa, England, Fiji etc.etc.etc.etc. in developing 7s players.

Williams wrote an open letter to the Taoiseach a few weeks ago asking for him to help make it happen.

I think Ireland will join the 7s circuit fairly soon, if they can get a place on the circuit in Dublin it will pay for the team, which is the major blocking factor.

Apparently at the moment its only 12 teams playing. Don't blame the IRB they're just following the Olympic guidelines. I really can't see Ireland qualifying.
