Italian players from Argentina

I kept hearing how amazing Sergio Parisse is and how he is the worlds best no.8. I thought it was great Italy has produced such a player. I hear the same about Castro, the worlds best tighthead.

Till I find out they both were born and raised in Argentina.

I read somewhere 15% of the Italian squad is from Argentina. What do these Argentinians leave Argentina to play for Italy? Imagine how could Argentina would be with all these players.

Lots are...

Castrogiovani, Parisse and Garcia for starters. All will play vs New Zealand today.

The reasons are:

1 - lots of Argentine players in the Super 10 (Italy rugby). Over 60.
2 - Easier than making the Pumas team.
3 -Italian parents (like Parisse) or grandparents.
4 -Italian passports to get more game time at European clubs. Once they have the passports Mallet and co go after them...

Don't forget the pull of the 6 nations. Regular competition would have been a big factor for any of those boys.
