I am about to join a local rugby club, strictly amateur.

I used to play soccer, but that was many years ago.

Anything I should now about playing rugby? I do workout about 3-4 times per week as it is.
I meet with the coaching staff next week, as well as practice starts next week.

I saw a website and the "protection equipment" is confusing.
I mean I see head, shoulder and chest protection, but you guys don't wear "cups".
Is the impact just in the upper body area?

And, can regular soccer boots work, or do I need to buy special rugby boots?

I know alot of questions, but I appreciate any assistance.

footy boots do the trick, and you need a mouthguard. That's it.

Some people choose to wear padding on their shoulders but I find that nullified the pain my bony shoulders caused in tackles...
