Lewis Moody retires with immediate effect.

Sad to hear, but i think the right decision. A moody few years ago would be great for England. I always saw him as a 6.5 rather then a outright 7 but people here probably seen more of his exploits them me.
Best years were definately 2001-2006. Nobody can take it away from him the RWC 2003 he came on and won the lineout that enabled england move down the field to set up Johnny Wilkinson to drop goal for the world cup.

As "Geech" said in his book there are players who play international rugby and there are those who are "Test match animals" and have the temperment to raise there game and play with a high level of intensity when required, Lewis was that kind of player gave it his all for his country and club.

******* 47.

If you've got a wobbly bit somewhere, get it checked out. That goes for all of you, you lovely bastids

That's a real heartbreaker - Moody was one of those players who literally sacrificed everything to help whatever team he played in. Completely selfless and left everything out there in every single game he played in. His part in the build-up to Wilkinson's drop goal in 2003 is criminally underrated. It just hits so much harder when it's players who you grew up watching and respecting.

I don't mind admitting it brought a tear to my eye watching Lewis' interview on BBC this morning.
Absolutely shocking news for both him and his family, especially seeing both Rob and Doddie gradually succumb to the inevitable.
Jeez, what a ******* of a disease.
I wish him and his family well.

Sad news indeed.
