Lions - Six Nations 2025 Auditions

Media need to get people reading. Based on current form I'd say neither Ireland nor England are 'nailed' on. I feel we'll see quite a bit of Ireland mainly because of reputation (or experience) and Farrell being the coach. However, I'm sure you could argue most players haven't had the 'form' they have previously.
This is it like Fin Smith is the 10 I want to see for Lions. Mitchell too may get 9. Henshaw shouldn't tour. Mack Hansen will as Farrell loves him. Farrell will bring alot of Irish as loyalty. Sam Prendergast I think will still go as Farrell has put all eggs in basket with him and doubles down I think

Can I ask juat reading some English media and they suggest it should be majority English. Like not sure where they get some of these conclusions. I get Ireland are on bit of decline but England haven't really hit the heights either. They are saying Itoje is hot favourite for captain. I can't see it either. Likes of Fin Smith, Alex Mitchell and Pollock I get. But some "nailed on" guys like George Ford and LCD I am confused on
Who else is a legitimate option for captain with Doris out? I can only think of Itoje. His performances have been outstanding and he's dropped all the childish whooping and celebrations after everything.

3 10s.... both Fins, and one other. It's not a development tour so Prendergast loses out to Ford who is still an experienced class act and the type of 10 who could lead a strong lions team to victory. Marcus Smith loses out aswell.

Not many stand out hookers....LCD is back playing physical aggressive rugby. Maybe back up to Sheehan.

Imagine if Andy makes his son captain.

Also in the last few years at times the RFU has made Freddie Steward and Marcus Smith two of the main names to bring in more viewers and now one is far from the Lions and the other in major doubt of going.

I'd say Crowley not out of question in 10s. But for Sam Prendergast it will be a development tour I feel.
I think Dan Sheehan could be a captain. Georgia and Morgan not guaranteed a test spot. Itoje and Sheehan are really.

Steward should just go to France

Love him as a player but I have always thought that Itoje looks like a captain but doesn't really sound like one when he speaks. Perhaps he is more inspirational and vocal behind the scenes with his fellow players but he always comes across as softly spoken and super chilled.

Could Farrell pick a ‘tour captain’ to do the interviews and stuff and then put them on the bench of drop them?

Just thinking it would take pressure from the actual captain.

I think the argument that's the Lions shouldn't be a development tour for Pollock could probably be said about Prendergast.

After the weekend, if he was English I'm not even convinced he'd be are 3rd best 10.

Sam is better than George Ford and not far behind M Smith, he has one flaw in his game, a big one that should keep him out of the Lions tour but he wasn't as bad at the weekend as is being made out. I don't think there's many 10s in the game who stop Pollock there, there's also no other 10 in the game defending there. Ireland use him as a speed bump and it's fine with 15 players on the pitch, Neinaber's more aggressive defence doesn't allow for that and Saints exposed the stress that that puts on Ringrose and even more so, Henshaw.

Sam was really poor at the weekend with the ball more importantly. He was his predetermined shapes even when they weren’t on and he passed poorly under pressure.

It’s just too early for the lad, same as Pollock. The 10s should be Fin and Finn but the third if needed is very subjective. If you want an old head for mid week, then take Ford,

Prendergast gave key passes for at least three of Leinster's tries off the top of my head. I don't think he was good overall but agree with LB that the Pollock tackle is getting a bit much attention. I was actually impressed when he tackled, I believe it was, Augustus while defending in the line. Obviously his defence is not good, and I'd actually go Smith x2 and Russell but it's very tough to find an accurate reflection of Prendergast's performances imo. The narrative is so strong around him he's either the best or worst thing ever depending on who you're talking to.

Yeah Leinster scored 34 points and had 64% territory. The 10 did his job ball in hand.

Like if Leinster defended properly and Freeman didn't score two of the tries Sam wasn't at fault for, people are talking about his going on the plane.
