Hi guys,

I need your help. I am struggling to translate the rugby positions of players in different languages to English, or numbers.

Mainly it is Italian, French, Spanish, Japanese and Russian that i am having trouble with. The rest are ok.

So, if anyone here speaks Italian, French and Spanish in particular i would like to know the names of the positions 1-15. I know some, but am not sure what 3a linea means and it is difficult to understand for me.

Can you please list them like this..

1 Pilier etc

2 Talonneur etc

3

4 / 5

6 / 7

8

9

10

11/ 14

15

In French :

1 Pilier (gauche)

2 Talonneur

3 Pilier (droit)

4 / 5 Seconde ligne

6 / 7 Troisième ligne

8 Troisième ligne centre

9 Demi de mélé

10 Demi d'ouverture

11/ 14 Aillier or Trois-Quarts aile

12/13 Trois -Quarts centre

15 Arrière

Spanish :

1 Pilar (derecho)

2 Hooker

3 Pilar (derecho)

4 / 5 Segunda línea

6 / 7 Ala

8 Octavo

9 Medio scrum

10 Apertura

11/ 14 Wing

12/13 Centro

15 Fullback

Here in Argentina we call them that way, but in Spain is different i think :D

Thanks dudes..!

I put 2 and 2 together and thought Apertura might mean 'Open', like in the Opening Championship in South American football.

Ok, so this means Spain and Uruguay are done now i guess most correct, and i have even thrown in some of the U-18's stars from Uruguay as they only have 24 senior players in the National Team.

In Italian:

1 Pilone sinistro

2 tallonatore

3 pilone destro

4 - 5 seconda linea

6-7 terza linea (or also flanker)

8- terza centro

9- mediano di mischia

10- mediano di apertura

11-14 ali

12 primo centro

13 secondo centro

15 estremo

Spanish :

1 Pilar (derecho)

2 Hooker

3 Pilar (derecho)

4 / 5 Segunda línea

6 / 7 Ala

8 Octavo

9 Medio scrum

10 Apertura

11/ 14 Wing

12/13 Centro

15 Fullback

Here in Argentina we call them that way, but in Spain is different i think :D

In Spain they are mostly the same, but the flankers are called "Tercera Línea" (Third Row) or "Tercer Ala" (Third Wing), wings are called "Ala" (literally "wing" in spanish) and the fullback is called "Zaguero".

in spain:
1 pilier or pilar izquierdo
2 talonador
3pilier or pilar derecho
4 and 5 segunda linea
6, 7 flanker
8 ocho=8 or llave
9 medio mele
10 apertura
11, 14 ala
12, 13 centro
15 zaguero
