So are there any players out there in the rugby community? I know there are; rugby players are generally pretty intelligent guys and the shear depth of the game should probably appeal..

How much do you play or would like to play? When did you start/stop? What do you like/hate about the game and what archetype or not do you prefer?

I personally don't get to play as often as I'd want as my close friends are done with it and I can't really find the time to join "support groups". I also detest the online version as it takes away the social aspect which I find is an important part of the game for me.

I started out in 2010 with the UR and UW pre-con decks. I quickly found R was not my style and went WU control all the way while dabbling in some B. I have since then sold and rebuilt my collection 3 times! I am so sad I sold my 1st collection. I had a complete set of 'Force of Will' as well as 2 'Mana Drain', a single 'Time Walk', 1 'Sol Ring' and 1 'Mox Sapphire' as well as a good number of solid W control cards that were a bit easier and cheaper to replace thankfully.

I found control and permission decks tend to put casual gamers off and TBF can be a bit of a drag in a friendly multplayer game (my preferred platform) so these days I tend to play variants on 'The Rock' (GBW mid-range where I lean towards a little control) and 'Solar Flare-ish' types of WUB synergy/control/mid-range decks. I also try to keep somewhat up to date as many players are put off by the older sets I find.

I used to have some cards, theyre probably collecting dust in my parents house loft if theyve not been sold. Never stuck with it very long as at that time nobody had Magic cards, was all about the Pokemon cards and Football Stickers

It seems that finding people to play with/against is a problem for the game. It certainly is here in my region ITO casual games and TBH it's best when played with close friends IMO; I think funny of people who play it.. almost professionally. You have to have a screw loose somewhere IMO.

The thing that drew me to the game in the first instance was the artwork. Some fantastic fantasy art to be found. I think I recognize the dragon in your avatar as belonging to 'D&D Greyhawk' promotional art?

Wow, this brings back memories.

I used to play in High School, Our entire matric group used to play during our "off periods" in the auditorium. didn't play after school though. There's nobody in town that I know to play with, and my brothers always thought it was lame.

I was always a forest and plains player... And I hated to play against Swamp players...

Haha, you'd hate my attritional approach to the game then.

Seems like nobody has time for board games or trading card games with the dominance of PC and gaming consoles particularly with the internet providing a semblance of the social aspect of the former.

And TBH it is kinda lame but that has never held me back from persuing things I find I enjoy. I will always remember the furore that came up when we were playing at a friend's home and his neighbour walked past with his mother while someone at the table announced that they were "summoning a.." I don't even remember, think it was a "Lord of the Pit". Oh, the freak out session the old lady had.

When I had my collection I was always a bit more fascinated by the artwork on the cards rather than the game itself. Always found myself flicking to the picture of this card in my book of possibles in the deck I had
