Magners League or EDF Cup

Just Curious to Know which is more popular in Wales, and if you'd have to get rid of one which one would it be and why?

EDF cup is only a short competition. What would they do for the rest of the year if they only played that and the Heiniken Cup?

Isn't the Magners League just a meaningless set of pre-season friendlies before the HEC?

...and yes, I can confirm that was just the sound of crickets.

It has to be the Magners League.

Yeah, I guess you do have a right to laugh about that. However, they're going strong here in the US...thank God for Setanta.

That Add does have a Point though. And it's been taken more seriously each year.

So, when are the teams going to start taking their HEC players to away games in the ML?

Isn't that bloke about 39 year too old to be saying phrases such as "cool your Jets"? (i.e. he's well past 13 years old)

Its Neil Francis ................ He who infamously called Leinster a bunch of Ladyboys a few months before they won the Heineken cup.

I like him though. No bullshit with him.

Not one bloody Welsh person replied to my post. That's it Welsh people are going on my list.

PEOPLE TO KILL
Item 1 - Welsh People.

Well id have to say the EDF, as cups seem to be the only thing Cardiff took seriously last season...

No seriously, Im looking forward to the new manger's season with the playoff system, it makes it much more interesting than the EDF. Although the level of rugby is the same in both as you see second string sides until the semi finals of both competitions ;)

The EDF sucks, 90 of the English teams put out weakened sides as our focus is/was on the Premiership. I know as that's what we did (fat lot of good it did :wall: ).

As for the Welsh sides I'd guess the ML is priority, its a competition that matters more than a cup. I prefer watching the ML when I can see it.

I'd have to say the EDF is taken more seriously and given more weight but I personally enjoy the Magner's League much more, probably because of the rivalries involved.

People complain about teams not bringing the full team to away matches which isn't quite as true as it used be. It does get more serious every year and I don't mind it that much because we get to see the young talent coming through in those matches and they tend to be looser and exciting which is a nice mix up from the desperate tension of the Heineken Cup and the 6 Nations....and that's not to say we don't get tense matches in the Magners League aswell.

And the rivalries are brilliant too. As a Munster fan, in particular I look forward to matches against:

Leinster
Ulster
Ospreys
and Cardiff have been promoted this year to the list where as Scarlets have been chucked from the list.

This year sees the introduction of a Play Off system in the Magners. The theory is that it will make the teams interested right up until the final weekend if they are within a shout of getting in to the play offs.

Also the EFD/Anglo Welsh Cup is being run over the same weekend as the 6N so the clubs will only have non-international players involved. A huge advantage to the large English teams with lots of foreign layers.
