Some decent action in the semis and two away wins. Decent crowds of 2.5k and 3.5k in Houston and New England respectively. Definitely a foundation that could be built on in these areas.

I predict a close match with Rugby New York coming out on top. RNY by 3.

St. Louis Knights, a new MLR team in 2023? That's the rumor. My guess is the Commissioner will announce it during the MLR Championship on Saturday. :)

Some decent action in the final. Suggestion Seattle struggled in the heat, but that's where home field advantage comes in.

New York is my favorite team in the Eastern Conference, but not my favorite MLR team. So I'm celebrating, but not with a great deal of enthusiasm. ;)

I read 1,900 pre-sales. Disappointing but venue announced just 4 days before the match and NY isn't one of the stronger supported team. The final last year in LA Zgot 6,700 I believe.

2021 Final in Los Angeles, CA attendance was 7,389.

2022 Final in Harrison, NJ was 1,979 (as you noted they only had a few days to promote it). I enjoyed the final, but then again I wanted New York to win.

Commissioner said during an interview that attendance was up more than 20% across the MLR this season. So they're definitely headed in the right direction.

Man of the Match was Andy Ellis (former All Black and Crusader). He announced his retirement before the match. What a great way to end your career! :)

I really enjoyed season five of MLR competition. I've been a fan since year one and I think this was the most exciting season yet. I can't wait for 2023.

Champions:
2018 - Seattle
2019 - Seattle
2020 - Season cancelled after five rounds due to Covid-19 (San Diego was 5-0 at the time)
2021 - Los Angeles
2022 - New York

In coordination with MLR, the first annual Collegiate Rugby Shield competition was held in Utah yesterday. Two teams made up of college all stars played a close first half, but the Peaks squad pulled away in the second half to win comfortably. Some of the players in this game will be in the MLR draft next month.
