Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jnr's potential mega-fight appears unlikely to materialise after the latter refused $50 million to step into the ring with his Filipino rival.

Shows that Mayweather is scared.

when i saw the ***le the first word that popped to mind was 'scared'

He wants $100 million to fight, bloody hell what's he going to do with all that?

Would certainly need it I feel if he thought Pacman, the boy is a great. Quick hands and to be honest ever since the talks of a fight Mayweather has ducked and dived to avoid the fight because he knows he will get destroyed.

What a pussy. He is running out of excuses and I don't think it'd be wise for him to avoid this fight because regardless of what he has achieved the fact is he will always be remembered for this episode if the fight doesn't happen

Mayweather is clearly dodging as much as he can. To be honest though I think he would still beat Pacquiao if they fought, as good as Pacquiao is.

I'm sick of hearing about this fight, Mayweather needs to man up and fight Pac-Man. I think we all know he will get dominated if it does happen but i feel like this will end up a big "What If" fight much like Tyson vs Ali, the only thing is this could happen unlike the latter.

I can see this being drawn out for ages , he will then put out terms that pacman cannot accept in an attempt to salvage some reputation...however I don't see why he does not fight him what good is a great record of fighting the mediocre when you want to be the best ? Also anything can happen in boxing all it takes is pacmans guard to drop once and a bit of luck and mayweather could win it..

I think what Ali has turned into since retiring has crept into the minds of some boxers. Sure 50 million is alot of money, and its fun to try and be the greatest etc, but what use is 50 million if youre a vegitable in 5 years.. He could fight 5 mediochre boxers, avoid getting hurt and still earn alot of money instead.

but they have made so much money already. surely they'd only have their reputation to worry about now?

Their repuatation, and the ability to walk and talk uninhibited past 40 is what i was getting at

I think it's too late to worry about the pugilistic dementia for them...One fight after countless KOs and boxing for 10 years + is not gonna change anything...

Thats true to an extent, but there is a difference between fights against scrubs in the in the prime of your career and coming out of retirement in your mid 30s to take on Pacman. Maybe he's starting to feel the little signposts that lead to braindamage in his old age and he doesn't have the same confidence of his youth?

Its only one more fight, but one fight against a guy that could do some serious damage.

IIRC he played these games before the Hatton fight also. Chuck enough Money in it and see where he stands I reckon.

That or he's waiting until SBW turns fully pro!

Ye but Mayweather wants $100m and thats not going to happen as thing stands.

In fairness, Ali's Parkinsons was set off from fights with Liston, Frazier, Foreman and Holmes, some of the biggest hitters ever, in a career which lasted over sixty professional fights and twenty years. Mayweather has over 20 less fights, 5 less years of boxing and has never been knocked out in his career. I don't think physiologically there is anything wrong with him. Considering Pacquiao's record, I don't see that much reason for Maywhether to be scared. Pacquiao's in great from, but he's lost three fights and drawn two, and his K.O record isn't that intimidating. He's the best current welterweight in the world, but he's not a career ender. He's also only two years younger, so there isn't a big age gap. Maybe Mayweather just wants to get out while he's still got a perfect record.

$50,000,000 though. I'll jump in the ring with him for that. Asking for more is just greedy. David Haye v Klitschko will be the fight to watch anyway.

Haye vs Klitchko won't have Don King doing what Don King does though.
