Hi everyone,

I made a compilation of national anthems and rugby songs (also haka, ...) recorded in stadium or pubs, shivers guaranteed. But I still search for some records of wallabies and springboks supporters. Please contact me if you are interrested in or if you have some.
I also wrote a little book with a small description of each record or song history, that has to be supplemented. At the moment, it's only in french, but it can be translated quickly if needed.

I specially search records for :
- Waltzing Mathilda,
- NKosi kele ...
- Die Stem von Suid Afrika,
- Argentina anthem.

Here is the list of records I already have :

01 â€" Introduction (great history tries with on the World Cup 2007 Theme)
02 â€" Roger Couderc (a mythic french commentator)
03 IRL - Amhran na bhFiann (Croke Park)
04 IRL - Ireland's call (Croke Park)
05 SCOT - Flower of Scotland (Murrayfield 1990)
06 WALES - Land of my fathers (Millenium Stadium)
07 WALES - Land of my fathers (Arm's Park)
08 ENG - God save the queen (Twickenham)
09 ENG - Swing low sweet chariot (Twickenham)
10 SA - Nkosi Sikelel Afrika (studio)
11 FRA - La Marseillaise (Stade de France)
12 AUS - Advance Australia Fair (Melbourne Stadium)
13 NZ - God Defend New Zealand (Eden Park)
14 NZ - Ka Mate (Stadium)
15 ITA - Fratelli d'Italia (Roma Massimo Circus)
16 ARG - Oid Mortales (studio)
17 FIJI - God Bless Fidji (Stadium)
18 FIJI - Cibi Fidji (Haka)
19 SAMOA - Tula'i ma sisi (Stadium)
20 SAMOA â€" Haka
21 TONGA - E otua mafimafi (Stadium)
22 TONGA â€" Haka
23 CAN - O Canada (studio)
24 ROM - Desteapta-te, romane (studio)
25 JAP - Kimi ga yo (studio)
26 IRL - Molly Malone (studio)
27 SCOT - Flower of Scotland (The Corries)
28 SCOT - Flower of Scotland (other version)
29 WALES - Land of my fathers (studio)
30 ENG - Swing low sweet chariot (studio)
31 SA - Bryan Habana (compilation of great tries)
32 SA - Gee die bal vir Bryan (humoristic sketch)
34 NZ - Kapa o Pongo (Haka)
35 NZ â€" Timatanga (Haka)

But with who singing it? I'd have to vote for Derek Warfield or Charlie & The Bhoys' live version I got on my PC here... anyone know if Christy Moore has done a version of it?

search for John Williamson if you want the "real" version of waltzing matilda.

Almost all are recorded in a stadium before or during a game. And that's those kind of record I'm searching for. InsaneAsylum, thanks for your message but the goal of the compilation is not to get the real version but rugby supporters version.

You can download the actual version here (a new one is still in progress) :

(60 Mb) (mp3 files)

the inside book.pdf gives details but in french, I would appreciate if someone could translate it in english and then add descriptions.

I also search a record of "Bread of Heaven" during a game when Wales begins to win.

Sorry Pierre, that's what he meant I think, by the "real" version. John Williamson's is by far the most representive of Waltzing Matilda from a rugby game.

Any chance we would be able to get Swing Low Sweet Chariot and other songs sung by the crowd live?

that's ok, maybe i wasn't clear... by 'real' i meant, a bloke holding a guitar in the middle of telstra stadium in sydney, in front of 100,000 fans, belting out waltzing matilda.... that man holding the guitar is john williamson

Hi, thanks for your answer.

Swing low, sweet chariot is already on my CD, recorded at Twickenham.
You can download it (complete CD) here :

I've watched John Williamson's perfomence, and I understood he's THE specialist of Waltzing Mathilda. If I don't a "crowd version", it's probably the choice I'll make.

Thanks for your help.
