I think this shows the confidence and potential they see in Ross. Sitting behind 3 All Blacks is no fun, so it'll be good for him to get big time minutes for the Highlanders. At least it gives me a reason to watch the Highlanders play this year. As for Manu, yeah I think he's going to be a fantastic number 8, but that still leaves us wanting at the openside position once McCaw decides to pack his bags and cash in a rather large check from a NH club. We need to find that new young ball scrounger. No bandaide solution like Hopgood.
