Venue: Soldier Field
Time: 22:00 CAT (SA, GMT +2)

Jared Payne, Andrew Trimble, Garry Ringrose, Robbie Henshaw, Simon Zebo, Johnny Sexton, Conor Murray, Jack McGrath, Rory Best, Tadhg Furlong, Ultan Dillane, Devin Toner, CJ Stander, Jordi Murphy and Jamie Heaslip

15 players rested last week can be made into a decent team!

Healy
Tracy
Ryan
Ryan
SOB/VdF
POM
McGrath
Jackson

Is probably the bench to join them.

A Full strength Ireland will hopefully give the AB's a decent game.

This is interesting, because it doesn't happen all that often that a NH team will have 2 bites at the cherry in playing a NH team in the NH during the November tests...

27 man squad flying out to Chicago. No SOB, POM, Henderson, Marshall or Jackson.

Carbery in line to make his debut.

Finlay Bealham (Buccaneers/Connacht)

So we're looking at something like

1 McGrath
2 Best
3 Furlong
4 Don Ryan
5 Toner
6 Stander
7 VDF
8 Heaslip
9 Murray
10 Sexton
11 Zebo
12 Henshaw
13 Payne
14 Trimble
15 Kearney

16 Cronin
17 Healy
18 Bealham
19 Dillane
20 Murphy
21 Carbery
22 Marmion
23 Ringrose

Holland, John Ryan, Luke McGrath, Gilroy on standby. There won't be too many changes from that side.

My guess would be

15. Payne
14. Trimble
13. Ringrose
12. Henshaw
11. Zebo
10. Sexton
9. Murray
8. Heaslip
7. Murphy
6. Stander
5. Dillane
4. Toner
3. Furlong
2. Best
1. McGrath

16. Healy
17. Cronin
18. Ryan
19. Ryan
20. VdF
21. McGrath
22. Carbery
23. Gilroy

None of that starting XV played last week, as I've said previously. There ought to be a reason.

From Munster POV I'm delighted. We will hopefully have Peter for Friday night.
Rumours are a 6-2 split and based on any form Ringrose shoild be 13 Payne 15 and John Ryan benching.
Regardless it'll take us playing to max of everyones ability and All Blacks to only hit 60% for us to get that W I feel.

I'd like to see the Irish give the ABs a good game, maybe even win (as insufferable as their bragging will be) but I just can't see beyond a comfortable AB win.

I don't see any x-factor in that Irish selection to break down arguably the top international defence. Possibly Zebo, but barring "that" try has he done much in an Irish shirt? Trimble dependable and a good finisher but isn't the fastest. I think Ireland will struggle to get a try, even cross kicks and high balls will be against Dagg and Smith who aren't too shabby in the air.

With that said I think the Irish selection and likely gameplan is one of the few to have a chance of keeping the score respectable by breaking up the game. Maybe even a wee chance of a win if NZ go experimental and have poor discipline. At least one team has picked their exciting young talent at fullback. Harrumph!

Hopefully it inspires a few US kids to be the next Rob Kearney!

with Retalick & Whitelock & a potential reintroduction of Aaron Smith this should be tricky test for the All Blacks managing player load and travel. Expect some rotation. Some players have had a big workload, Ben Smith, Crotty, Read, Dagg too has played a lot so far. But I kinda expect the top team this week, Read & ben Smith to maybe rest against Italy.

Focus has to go on our Locks, I have total confidence in tuipulotu. Romano is safe but hes not been a great achiever recently. Experienced but we have 3-4 better options that the selectors aren't taking. Our biggest lineout option is Read which has allowed our locks to attack opposition ball and its worked well.

I'm expected a B/C team to face Italy, more than just Smith and Read will be rested. In an interview following the squad announcement a coach said that every player is going to play, so against Italy is when most will get a run out. As tempting as it is to see what a 1st team could do to them, I'd like to see:

1. Crockett
2. Taylor
3. Faumaina
4. Tuipulotu
5. Romano (Because the locks are 2nd choice anyway I'm expecting them to remain to get some experience)
6. Dixon
7. Savea
8. Squire
9. Smith (Needs reintroducing to the team, so I'd keep him starting)
10. Cruden
11. Naholo
12. ALB
13. Moala
14. Ioane
15. McKenzie

16. Coltman
17. Tu'ungfasi
18. Franks
19. Barrett
20. Dixon
21. Kerr-Barlow
22. Sopoaga
23. Fekitoa

Romano is out

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/...t-of-ireland-test-returning-home-from-chicago

more pressure on the locking stocks. What we lose is experience, I think we have a number of better locks than Romano but none have the experience he has. I think Bird is the best option but he is injured(played the NPC final with a screw in his foot, due to have surgery) and was not selected. I rate Scott Barrett above Romano as well but it will be his first test in a very unusual situation and very little time with the squad.

The list of locks out of action in international rugby ATM is getting ridiculous.

Itoje, Kruis, Lawes, Henderson, Jones, Retallick, Whitelock, Romano...

Is this coincidence or does it reveal quite a lot about the role and work load of locks in the modern game?

Jones and Romano are due to family bereavements. But yes get your point on workload of the modern lock. Still these people injuries seem to cluster and affect certain positions to make it seem luck a pattern.

Rumored team according to Murray Kinsela
15. Rob Kearney
14. Andrew Trimble
13. Jared Payne
12. Robbie Henshaw
11. Simon Zebo
10. Johnny Sexton
9. Conor Murray

1. Jack McGrath
2. Rory Best
3. Tadhg Furlong
4. Devin Toner
5. Ultan Dillane
6. CJ Stander
7. Jordi Murphy
8. Jamie Heaslip

Replacements:
16. Sean Cronin
17. Cian Healy
18. Finlay Bealham
19. Donnacha Ryan
20. Josh van der Flier
21. Kieran Marmion/Luke McGrath
22. Joey Carbery
23. Garry Ringrose
Kinsela seems unsure about a few selections, but is pretty certain on Kearney starting. Would be very disappointing to see that to be honest. Payne to 15, and Henshaw Ringrose is what the people want. I understand he sees these guys every day in training, but we can all see them every week on the pitch which is what counts. Henshaw Ringrose is risky, but no one has X factor like Ringrose.
Pretty happy otherwise. People will not be happy about Jordi and Heaslip, but it has good balance, and was likely always gonna be the picked backrow what with O'Mahony and O'Brien not of the required fitness. Had a dream last night we hammered the kiwis 9-3 last night. Woke up torqued.

I can't understand where Kearney's selection is coming from, he was the right choice in the 6n but Ringrose is a better option now.

Is the team named tomorrow?

Jordi selection is fair. He's playing well and its understandable.
As of backs we sacrifice a 13 that can threaten and a 15 that can attack (both can defend too) for a great 15 to play 13 where he's good defensively but offers nothing attacking (and hasn't played regularly there) and an out of form 15 who again offers nothing offensively and is a weak defender nowadays.
