Were you there? No. Shut your mouth. On the way to the game, beforehand in the pubs and on the streets approaching the venue milling about at the food and drink stalls, on the concourse inside the stands and in the crowd itself the French were very vocal about their chances and how they were looking forward to recreating the same scene from 8 years earlier in the same venue at the same fixture in the knock out stages. The planets had aligned and there was nothing to lose as PSA was on the way out anyway. The Gallic spirit would rise and shine once more at the appointed hour. It was great stuff and it was heartfelt. Talking out of your backside a year later, for a fixture you never attended is 'delusional'. Pull your head in. We (the Kiwi's) were 'quietly confident' but only quietly as the media was full of the historical losses at twickenham in 99 and in 2007, then they were bombarding us with how we were lack lustre in the group games, not shining and potentially vulnerable. This was partially because Hansen was trying to fly under the radar. For the record, the French fans were superb in their support for their team, in their overall conduct and their unilateral condemnation of PSA. But they were extremely confident of their chances on the day as they had a 'nothing to lose' approach. If you weren't there you wouldn't have experienced it. - - - Updated - - - No, they are the best premonitions. I still have one occasionally that I am scoring the winning try in the 95 final before being stretchered off with food poisoning... The Irish should be optimistic, they will have good support in Chicago and they are ready for the temperature. They have a strong team and an excellent coach. Ireland are vastly better than their record against the AB's would predict.
