It can only be worse if Rolland and Clancey are the linesmen........surely they are not the best in the NH to officiate at the H Cup Final..............mind you Ownes went the other way and let everything go for the benefit of the attacking team in the Amlin!

Or Poite, purely for the scrum hilarity.

I think Leicester have had the better of the decisions every time Barnes has taken on the East Midlands derby.

The Ashton/Tuilagi incident and Murphy's horrendous obstruction on Foden handing the Tigers victory are just two incidents that spring to mind.

I don't think anyone is doing cartwheels over him taking charge.

I like Barnes.

As long as Ashley Rowden isn't involved I'm ok.
Not to hijack, but I can't be the only one who thinks that guy is utterly abysmal.

Come on mate, Ashton had history with the bulldozer brothers. Not that long ago he dragged Alesani along the floor by his hair and a right ruckus it caused.[h=3]

[/h] And I dont suppose he dug Manu in the ribs or pushed the back of his head after either. Or maybe that dont count. Mind you anyone daft enough to mess with them deserves some sense knocking into them.lol

I work in a school, and I must admit we do teach the kids that a small shove in the back is justification for 3 full blown punches to the face of a guy who isn't swinging back. Especially when he's half your size.

The hair pulling incident also happened AFTER Ashton was punched the season before and was condemned as idiotic by the majority of Saints supporters. It's one of the many incidents that didn't have us shedding too many tears when he moved to Sarries.

I completely understand your point. But it was a little more than a "small shove in the back", it was a pretty hard push to the head/neck, and there was obviously a load of gobbing off too.
That will get a reaction from most people.
If anything it's an example of why you don't do that, the refs saw the high tackle and would have dealt with it.

Well... just got back from hols and watched the game. If not for the idiocy of the kick out and the gob sh***. The ref says no, even if he is wrong, it means no. If the ref says shut up or your off..... guess what? This is a prime example of why I for one am glad Hartley is not England captain. Such a shame, I think tigers would still have won but by a small margin if he had not been sent off. A dismal end for the Saints fans. I think Barnes (dont let SC hear me say this) had a better grasp of the game than normal, the scrum was regulated well, rules not ignored etc. Too many times do we see the scrum bouncing around the pitch, driving in and poor binds not dealt with. Just need the feed sorting now.

Apart from all the early engagements and drives.

I think it's fair to say that so far none of the new laws have done anything to make the scrum less of a lottery depending on who the referee is.

Hes probably referring to the engagement sequence going form crouch, touch, pause, engage to crough, touch set.

Indeed he probably is.

Seems to have made very little difference - referees still just give free-kicks and penalties with apparently very little idea of what might actually be going on.
