Apparently,John Smit,Percy Montgomery,Aj Venter and Ollie Le Roux are coming to the western province and the Stormers. They have plenty of experience but bar the prop position of Le Roux we have better players than the other three in their desired positions. Venter is what 36? Jantjes is a much better fullback than Percy and Schalk Brits imo is better than Smit although he would be a great signing none the less.

I heard this on the radio yesterday, surprising news to say the least. Another 3 Saffas leaving the money in Europe for SH rugby. I can see Percy and le Roux going to the Cape, but Smit? He is came through the ranks here at the Sharks, and he promised he'll come back.
Perhaps this shows the influence and respect Rassie has among the players.

I think the Stormers/Province are more of a back up if he cant get a deal with the Sharks. Rassie's a smart guy, i really hope he wont replace Conrad with the king of Percy's Mr Montgomery :lol:

Well, Skipper Badenhorst isn't really S14 standard so there will definitely be space for Smittie, as Du Plessis is the only other quality hooker.
Do you think Percy may slot in at fly half instead of full back? Tony Brown is going out ain't he?

Yea i meant more the contractual situation rather than him getting a game, Du Plessis has been good when i've watched him but i have only seen the Sharks 3 times this season. Live anyway.

Hmm, yea its an option, im certain Grant would keep his starting position but Percy could be used as an impact player. His tactial and goal kicking is excellent. I think Browns on his way although he might be in the Currie Cup side.

Alright so the transfers of Venter and Monty have been confirmed. Le Roux was wondering around the Stormers camp before the S14 play offs started and Smit is still negotiating with the Sharks, his 1st option.
Any news on Le Roux's possible transfer?

Another oldie, Willem de Waal is coming down.
I can't really see Smit joining WP. We already have 2 very good hookers alternating and a promising, upcoming youngster. It would be unfair to Brits or Tiaan if Smit just came and took their well earned spot. Plus those 2 will be around much longer than Smit. So, unless he's playing as prop, I can't imagine he'd join us.
Didn't the Sharks already choose Bismarck over Smit? Or did Bismarck's choking last week and the lack of experience in the team change their minds?

Do you think Le Roux will be a good signing as his performance for the Baa Baa`s was not too hot, he looked like an old man at times

How did he (Ollie) fair in the GP (it was the GP right ?, I think he was playing for bath too).



I'm glad Percy is returning to the Cape though, I think Jantjes is a brilliant player, but now we at least have 2 solid fullbacks to rely on, and along with grant we've now got Percy to do some goalkicking for us too.



I see Percy as a more tactical and structured general then that of Jantjes unbelievable attacking flair, and I think it's good to have both types of fullbacks.



I'm not too sure on De Waal though, as well as Smit and Venter, I think Venter is getting too old to be a good signing. Britz and Tiaan Liebenberg and both really good hookers, if they continue to get the exposure and playtime I'm sure they'll turn into some of the top players in the country, if Smit comes into the fray I'm affraid that they might not get that gametime they deserve.

This season Le Roux has been playing for Leinster, although i only watched them a few times w
he was getting great reviews as when he joined the pack it became one of the better ones in europe. He may not be that prominent in the loose but his scrummaging power is still impressive.
