Owen Farrell, son of former man 'o' steel, shadow of his former self and perpetual target of Teh Mite's ire, Andy Farrell, will take to the field against Scarlets this weekend.

At the age of 17, he will be the youngest Guinness Premiership player, beating Danny Cipriani by 36 days.

Actually, looking at how many academy players there are in this side. It shows two things:

    1) The Guinness Premiership still doesn't give a jot about the EDF cup.
    2) Saracens academy structure is awesome and is starting to mature.
    3) The last two weeks of Guinness Premiership rugby has been hellish for the players, hence the huge rotation changes!

EDIT: To be fair, Owen is starting on the bench so Regan King is up against an England under 21s Fly Half and a clapped out Argentinian winger. I think the Scarlets pack could be having a break dance competition and King would still dance around Goode and Leonelli.

    Scarlets side for teh relevance

15 Ceiron Thomas, 14 Mark Jones, 13 Regan King, 12 Gavin Evans, 11 Nathan Brew, 10 Stephen Jones, 9 Martin Roberts, 1 Iestyn Thomas, 2 Matthew Rees, 3 Kees Meeuws, 4 Vernon Cooper, 5 Simon Maling, 6 Simon Easterby (capt), 7 Gavin Thomas, 8 David Lyons; Reps, 16 Phil John, 17 Ken Owens, 18 Scott MacLeod, 19 Nathan Thomas, 20 Sililo Martens, 21 Rob Higgitt, 22 Rhys Priestland.

Martin Roberts looks like an excellent prospect and could become a very good player in the coming years. Well, like I said, King should (and will) run rings around Andy Farrel Jr...

EDIT: He'll run around the whole team in fairness...

And what exactly has that got to do with the Guinness Premiership in the <strike>reserves</strike> EDF cup? As there are more then 36 days until the Premiership resumes, he's not breaking any records matey.

Still, best of luck to him. He's bound to be better then Dad.

Good on him, good to see plenty of fresh blood coming through. Even if it is for Sarries. -forced smile- :p

The guy will be running out for a Guinness Premiership team, thus he'll be breaking the record set by Danny Cipriani.

Unless you're going to be incredibly pedantic, as long as Saracens says its breaking a record, it does actually count believe it or not ;)

    Best of luck to Owen.

I'd rather he was making his Wigan debut but you can't have everything can you?

But he's not making his Premiership debut... How does that not compute?

Or, by your reckoning, Grant Anderson has the record for debuting days after his 17th birthday against Samoa for Saints.

    that does not matter

hes is the youngest ever player for a Guinness premiership team to be fielded in an official competition if he comes on. ;)

Yeah, you need to look really hard at the press release, go away and have a good think, sleep on it, rub your chin and maybe after a week you may get it.

That and be a Saints fan

As the press release on the official EDF Energy Cup site says:
