BOOKMAKER Paddy Power has been busily gaining maximum attention for itself again, this time by releasing an advert in which it promises to "tranquilise chavs" at next month's Cheltenham Festival races.

The ad, which sees a man armed with a dart gun stalking the crowds at Cheltenham, delivering knock out tranquilisations to misbehavers, is just the latest in a long line of controversial offerings from the company.

Earlier this month a commercial that asked viewers to spot "transgendered" women among crowds of racing fans at Cheltenham was pulled from Channel 4 and Sky, after more than 400 complaints were received by the advertising watchdog.

The tactic of producing adverts deemed too shocking for TV doesn't seem to be harming the company's PR, however. The latest ad has already attracted 126,000 views on YouTube in the four days since it was uploaded.
