Just a quickie. I've just starting getting back into league after being staunch union for umpteen years. One thing I've noticed is that some pitches have lines across the width of the field at irregular intervals and some have lines at ten metre intervals. Does anyone know if there's a reason for this?

pitches that are 100m long are sometimes divided every 10m making it easier to officiate, separating defence ten metres, looking for offsides and forward passes.
Those that are not 100m just have the official markings for the 20m tap restart and the 40m line for the forty twenty kicks.

Thank you, it makes sense now.
