Jerome Kaino has been earmarked by the Chiefs alongside cross-codes superstar Sonny Bill Williams as the prime targets to ensure a Super Rugby championship treble next year.

The news that Chiefs coach Dave Rennie is chasing Kaino comes as Blues coach Sir John Kirwan travels to Japan this week with one of his goals being to convince the 48-test All Black to return to Auckland next season.

So, Kaino might be coming back to play next seasons for the Chiefs, your thoughts guys?

and JK is in Japan to talk to Kaino about re-joining the blues, but the blues will struggle for funds after signing Benji, but Chiefs are chasing SBW as well so the purse at both clubs will be tight.

be it blues or chiefs he will be asked to play 8. As a blindside it will require Messam or Luatua to move to 8.

I'd like nothing more than for him to prove me wrong but I dont think he has it anymore. He left NZ basically broken man after 2011. from what ive seen he did not look the same and he has been used differently in Japan, where in NZ he was mostly a close in defender and part time runner. in Japan he runs the ball full time and has had to focus on that.

from the look of it though it seems he will be back so lets wait and see.

Some guys come back from Japan physically rejuvenated by what is basically a long break. God help us all if Kaino is one of them.

I am a big fan of Kaino. Great ball carrier and such a great bloke. Spoke to him a lot on Twitter. One of the friendlist person you get. Hope it goes well for him and play even better than he did before the injury.

I don't think the AB's really need him Luatua looks like he has everything he needs to be the long term option at 6.

Latua needs to prove himself against the more physical sides first. Aussie pack is light and not very confrontational

I'd rather see him at the Blues and playing at 8 instead of Saili. Luatua, Braid and Kaino in a back row, that's got to be the second best in the comp
