Wicklow RFC based 30 miles from Dublin are seeking a player coach for the coming season. The job would suit a player in their late 20s - early 30s who is interested in starting or progressing a coaching career while continuing to play and travel. Ideally we are looking for a second row/back row.

We have had several kiwi/aussie player coaches with us in the past including Matt Ward, Shaun McCarthy and Dan McKellar (Current assistant coach of Brumbies). All started their coaching careers in Wicklow and had very enjoyable and very successful periods with the club.

Usually our player coaches come on a one or two year contract to play and to coach. We will offer a good package for the right person.

The club is ambitious and determined to succeed. We have a young squad of talented players that play in division 1B of the Leinster League. The core of our team won 2 All Ireland club championships at underage level 6/7 years ago. Our goal for next season is to win promotion to division 1A in Leinster. We have two senior teams with a squad of about 50 players. Our second XV won the Leinster league and the area league last year so we do have some strength in depth. We have an excellent mini and youth structure with good quality teams coming through particularly at u19s and u17s level. This link shows the 1st team in action from the season just gone.

We have excellent playing facilities with three full sized pitches of the highest quality, a fully equipped gym and a welcoming clubhouse. There is an excellent structure around the mens team with 2 strength and conditioning coaches, backs coach, a team manager, 2 physiotherapists and an experienced senior rugby co-ordinator. The new coach will have as much support and assistance as is required. Pre season starts in early July with games starting in late August.

Wicklow is a lovely seaside town only 32 miles from Dublin. It has the advantage of beautiful scenery, beaches, mountains and countryside and yet is close to Dublin city.
