Good evening mate (although it’s morning here) Yes, I’ve noticed that the ABs have been underperforming a bit recently and it seems that Foster’s the reason. I’m glad you like my idea of an ANZUK team to take on the Boks. It would feel great. I’m also pleased that you share my values as far as close Commonwealth links are concerned and I agree with you that sport is an important way to preserve them. I agree with you about the fern. It would give your flag a bit more Kiwi heritage and (I think) be more Maori-inclusive? Upham showed true leadership in putting his men first and not trying to take credit for everything himself. He also did a lot for charity. We could do with more leadership like that now. I always try to follow principles like that in my work; I hope I largely succeed. Yes, I do take a lot of satisfaction from being in the Corps through my teens and early 20s. It was very character-forming and there was a lot of fun as well. Cricket was time consuming and I gave it up in my second year at uni. I also wasn’t as good at it as Rubgy although I enjoyed it. It must have been quite a strain for you playing Soccer in the morning and Rugger in the arvo. I can remember finding at uni that I had Rugger games or practices/coaching most days and Corps - the same as at school but with a bigger academic work load. It was quite difficult to balance. Re. the sweaters: I’m wearing the Navy one today. I can give you info about a good supplier if you want one for your autumn and winter next year. They’re warm but very well ventilated. What did you study at college/uni?
