I am a 16 year old girl who is 4'11" tall and weighs 11 stone and I was wondering what position I would play if I took up rugby?

Hard to say, depends on your physics. Best thing is to attempt one or two practice sessions and ask the coach where you would fit best.

Well it depends on your pace and agility. I think we can safely say that at 4'11" you're not going to be put into the second row though!

As these chaps say, where you end up playing is wholly developed on your skills. What are you good at?

I'm quite agile and am a good passer

Just ask your coach. I don't know if you already played some rugby but I can imagine that if you didn't it can be hard to cope with hard tackles.
I'm also very slim for my height but I put focus on increasing my core and and speed.

You sound like a scrum-half in the making! Perhaps wing if you're a good sprinter too. Somewhere in the back line I guess.

Do you mean the back row by back line?

The backline are the Wingers and Fullback

I actually see her more of a wing owing to her weight.

Maybe a stupid question but what's the dilemma. As soon as you have some practice sessions done you will know what positions suits you the most.
Anyway good luck with your game.

I'm going to agree with what most of the peeps here say, go for your first training session or two, and you'll be sorted :)

    Yeah true,

A friend of mine, a big bloke also tried 1 session but skipped the idea of joining the team as he wasn't up for the physics of the game.

Oh, and make sure you want to play rugby because it is out of genuine interest... Do not, under any circumstances play rugby because you think your bf would "love" you more if you do since he is also a rugby player...

My ex, did the same, and used the "I played rugby for you" to attack me when we broke up... hmmm, I never asked her to..

So, don't worry bout positions, come to practice with genuine interest, and commitment, you'll have fun no doubt!

You sound like a scrumhalf to me, and a damn good one at that.

I meant the backs, sorry. Scrum-half, fly-half (though you probably wouldn't play there as it really needs someone with experience), centre, wing or fullback.
