Rambo IV

Well, I enjoyed Terminator 3 (a few years back), Rocky Balboa, and Die Hard 4.0. This year there are two more old guy movies coming through, Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and Rambo IV.

Every man and his dog is excited by Indiana Jones coming back and with Spielberg & Lucas behind it, they have no problem making money. Harrison Ford has never had his career fall in the toilet, so I guess this'll be another chapter in a book of deserved success. Someone start a thread on it.

But anyway, I just wanted to talk about Rambo IV. It's a franchise that I've really not been huge on (only watched the first one entirely and it is decent), although I love these last chances to see classic characters.

I'm not saying this is going to be awesome, I'm just interested enough to give it a chance.

Stallone has been on AICN (Ain't It Cool News) this week answering questions from fans (nice thing to do and promotes his movie at the same time) and it's been a good read. Here's some of those sessions:

AICN head Harry Knowles (who can either be a huge suck-up or occasionally right on the money) has posted a review. make of that what you will http://www.aintitcool.com/node/35376

And here's a trailer http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/rambo/

So, what do any of you think?

I was very sceptical when I first read that this was in the pipeline, then I thought... What was Rambo films about...

Thats right Mindless Violence!!! So I watched the trailer and what did I see, Mindless Violence, its never gonna be a superb film but at the end of the day it was never meant to be a superb film...

Just go watch it and be merry...

its funny, people write off rambo, because its soo lame etc. but it is the perfect recipe for a action movie. full stop---> .

the moment you have aeroplanes, a car chase with a bike and a truck, or tall buildings it gets a bit silly, but one man, one gun, a million dead bad guys. thats the stuff good action movies are made of.

Wow, you are 100% right Sambad. Why aren't you an action movie director? They aren't supposed to be the next Charlie & The Chocolate factory.

Love it!

I've been critical of this in the past then i told myself to grow up.
I know only Rocky: First Blood was the only "good" one, but the other ones always kept you entertained.
I embrace it with open arms.

BUT IT SHALL NEVER TAKE PRIORITY OVER ROCKY!!!!

doesnt the 2nd one hold the record for most amount of violence in a movie, like 102min of violence??

This next one is apparently somewhere in between Rambo: First Blood & Part 2 in it's content and attitude.

I did read that somewhere. Was that the one where he is helping Vietnam vets to escape the viet con?
Also if my memory serves me correctly he dodged a missile shot from a helicopter, very impressive when i watched it as a 13 year old.

The thing which makes Rambo unique is that nearly every grown man has once put a tie around there head and acted like he was John Rambo...

Come on Admit it you have all done it...
