I came across a few articles relating to anecdotal evidence from women's soccer in America. They are basically suggesting that the rubber crumb on a 4g pitch has carcinogens in it and this has caused an increase in the number of players being diagnosed with cancel. Out of 38 34 were goalies. Thought to be due to them diving on the ground more. This could be multiplied many times for rugby.
There is no scientific evidence linking the two. But the rubber crumb used does have multiple carcinogens in it and a lot of places in America have stopped using it.
