I was talking to a guy today from a NZ packaging company, who told me that he's having a degree of difficulty getting the final artwork for carry-bags and pack shots for a game company, I asked who it was and he said it was EA Sports. He told me that they had the game pretty much ready to go, but seemed to be mucking around getting promotional details finalised for the games distribution. He had been back and forth to the EA rep several times and had a good idea of what the overall picture is. He said that they were totally commited to getting the game out in march, and want March 10-11. If that is not possible it will be as soon as they can, and have an absolute limit of March 31, (although they will do all they can to avoid that). He also told me that it wasn't just packaging EA were still working on, it's tv advertising and other promotional opportunities. There is a lot a mucking around in these things and the guy I was talking to needed 2-3 weeks to get the carry-bags ready, EA hadn't given him the final artwork, and they want them in shops at least a full month before the games release to put other games into, to promote the upcoming rugby release! He was somewhat complaining that it was going to be hard to put into the production schedule, with all the other jobs they had. The point of telling you all this? Hoping to be able to make it clear that the games programming is most likely not the reason for any upcoming delays, and this all gives me reason to believe Umosay's comment earlier that the game HAS passed testing and there are other logistical issues for EA to work through, that are all about them maximising their exposure on release of this game. Hope this pans out as I have heard and I don't end up with egg on my face, but I'm sure this is the case.
