Rugby 2006 must have online play!

Well, I have had a weekend of playing rugby 2005 with a mate, and I know this has been said before, but wow what a difference two player makes!

I have been playing single player since the game came out, and have since got pretty bored. However, playing it with a mate is like playing a completely different game. Each match is unpredictable and different, and the game just feels so much better. Even the special moves work, as if they were designed for two player!

well, I should be jumping up and down with joy, but alas nearly all my mates don't play computer games and so I have to live with the fact I can only play rugby 2005 once in a blue moon

THIS IS WHY WE NEED ON-LINE PLAY! come on EA not everyone has mates who want to play computer games. For us poor soles you must include an online play in 2006!

I cannot even begin to imagine how much fun the game would be playing against people from across the world!

Thoughts please....

lol read your first sentence again. you appear to already have the game.... but on a more serious note, online play is something that is a must for the next version.

I agree, Multiplayer changes a game 100%. It was short sighted the way EA released 2005 without much of a MP element, not to mention online play.

Can you imagine the scope that is available for online play, you start going into the specialist position aspects and well as tactics and moves etc....

EA would do themselves proud if they focused on Online for 2006

Perhaps, but single player in rugby 2005 is crap, and as single player is the most used mode in games of this type, then fixing this should be the priority in the next version............

a priority in the next version should be fixing any single player issues b4 moving into improving multiplayer

its that bloody simple

no point NOT having offloads or manual rucks with online mode

get them in first b4 anything else

yeah, just like real rugby, you need to get the basics right first. get the single player working well, and then move onto multi player. its not like you cant play multiplayer or anything, but online would be good.

on a more realistic note though, it is ea, dont expect the unexpected

I agree but I don't see it happening - these games are clearly designed to be played multiplayer. If you have a look at the special moves for instance - they are relatively ineffective in single player, yet work a treat in multiplayer. This is because they rely on HUMAN ERROR! Same with the set moves.

I think single player is just an add on in this rugby series, achieved with simple AI programing. I used to think it was the other way round, but now I'm convinced that the single player is NOT a priority.

Don't necessarily agree..........

If it was mainly designed for multiplayer then on line play would have been in THIS version.

Also the biggest thing in the game (for longevity anyhow) is the world league, designed with single player in mind.

The problem with set pieces occurs with any game that adopts them due to the fact your computer opponent is ALWAYS aware of what you are doing. It again comes down to having good computer AI. However as it stands there is one set move that is a 100% guaranteed try when playing the computer (pretty effective then........).

Overall rugby 2005 plays better in multiplayer because it removes the dodgy computer AI for the most part. This makes the game more exciting, less "scripted", and therefore more realistic.

Human error also leads to more kickable penalties (penalties awarded to you in single player are virtually non existant), and lessens the robotic nature of the attacking game that develops whenever playing single player.
