I've started this discussion to see if there is much interest in rugby players who are thinking of moving over to the United Arab Emirates to play rugby at a competitive level or just for the social scene. Hoping it can become a sticky thread!!

What is the current state of rugby in the Emirates?

The UAE’s rugby scene has expanded at a huge rate over the last decade with competitive levels of rugby ranging from social rugby to national standard. It’s always a daunting prospect for expats and newcomers to Dubai and the Middle East to meet new people. With rugby union in the UAE having a huge social scene, its a great place to meet new people, forge new friendships and get into shape.

What are your thoughts and experiences of playing rugby in the UAE?

Here's a quick update for those looking to play rugby in the UAE over the next 6 Months. At the moment we only have squad's training and Touch (tag) Rugby. There is no contact due to Covid-19 and it's looking like it will be mid-late January 2021 before we see the main domestic league competitions kicking off.
