I'm as embarrassed as anyone by the state of the media here. But what you're doing is taking a minority voice in an already s*** press and conflating it with the opinion of an entire nation. And to be honest, the nation doesn't have an opinion. Most people I know stopped giving half a f*** about half an hour into the Ireland-NZ game. Of the minority that do care, most are delighted you won. Guys like Franno and the Off the Ball presenters are delighted that you're getting worked up over this. It's extra clicks and publicity for them. They're loving the attention.
@Jer1cho Listen lad, most people here are delighted you won. Beating the English, especially as emphatically as you did, is a great way to ingratiate yourself around here. If you really want to hear Irish people talking about how great you are, listen to the commentary on the final, the way Liam Toland gushes about Kolisi should be more than enough. As for the media, I'll be the first to say it, it's absolute s****. Across every media platform at the moment, we only have one genuinely good Irish rugby journalist, Murray Kinsella. Everyone else is terrible and if I'm honest I haven't read or listened to most of it for years. I check the Irish Times for news updates and that's it. Look at it this way. I'm sure that somewhere there's some South African ex player, pundit, or journalist that you hate, or at least dislike or disagree with. That's how I feel about more or less every Irish 'journalist' you've mentioned in this thread (with the exception of BOD and O'Gara, both of whom are fine without being great, but then again I don't see what they've done to offend you). I'm as embarrassed as anyone by the state of the media here. But what you're doing is taking a minority voice in an already s*** press and conflating it with the opinion of an entire nation. It's extra clicks and publicity for them. They're loving the attention. They probably don't even believe half of what they're saying. Every so often we get an article that boils down to 'deliberately controversial NZ journo says something controversial' in the news in Ireland. I know it's not representative of New Zealand or their population, you should cop on and do the same. At this point it just seems like you're just looking up Irish news and jumping on anything that isn't gushing praise.
