Northampton Saints have announced that four more players are leaving the club after failing to regularly break into the first team last season.

Ben Lewitt, Neil Starling, Will Harries and Phil Hoy have been told by director of rugby Jim Mallinder they are no longer needed at Franklins Gardens.

"All of our squad have contributed to our good season," said Mallinder.

Shame for them all on a personnel level, but to be honest none are a great loss. Starling looks to be moving down the Andy Vilk career path, Bluey doesn't offer anything that his competition for the 7 shirt isn't superior at, Harries will be with Wales 7s more often then not and Hoy was always going to struggle with Lobbe, Kruger, Day, Vickerman, Cannon and Lawes all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Best of luck to them in the future.

Onward and upwards.

Hoy is the only one I thought we might have wanted to hang onto, mainly because I haven't seen him play much (although I think I did play against him at junior level) and had heard promising stories, but the others are no great loss.
