I thought I'd start this topic as a seperate thread.

I think most of us Saffas are aware of what is currently going on, but for those of you who don't know, here is a summary.

South African Rugby Union's (SARU) CEO, Mr. Jurie Roux is currently under investigation for apparently hiding money of around R32million when he was at Stellenbosch University. according to this article: http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/SARU-CEO-Roux-sued-for-R32m-20150703 Jurie Roux used the university's reserve fund to fund the Maties Rugby Club and for things such as player bursaries and functions etc.

Stellenbosh University is sueing Jurie Roux for R32 million. According to a KPMG audit, Jurie Roux used untraceable software when he did the transfers: http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/kpmg-audit-saru-ceo-hid-money-20160127. They found that Jurie Roux referred to these transfers as "sparries" which is some sort of Afrikaans slang for "Spaargeld", translated to english as "Savings".

Now Mr. Oregon Hoskins, President of SA Rugby said that SARU didn't even interview their own CEO when he was originally appointed in 2010, and that an independant recruitment company was used. http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/saru-did-not-interview-their-own-ceo-20160129

SARU has now distanced itself from Jurie Roux, along with Oregon Hoskins, yet he knew about this matter since October 2014, and just kept quiet. Hoskins, who used to be an attorney, should have known better than to just try and keep something like this quiet and wait for the bomb to go off.

Tank Lannings, latest opinion piece on Sport24, is something that has kept me thinking all morning. And I fear that he is right (which pains me to say, as I don't like him at all and his bias Stormer views).

Im sitting here with a lot of worry for SA Rugby. If this thing continues to grow, it could only hurt SA Rugby more, and this is at the top of the pyramid that is South African Rugby. If we have a problem at the top, we need to cut off the head before it spreads.

What else could Jurie Roux have hidden from the Rugby fraternity? Did he prehaps hide government funding used for development for his "Sparries"?? Was there funding available to pay our Springboks and perhaps keep them in the country instead of going overseas?

What are your thoughts?

I think its the same kind of man hunt that they used against Heyneke Meyer . Lets use the principle of innocent until proven guilty. If he is found guilty i still feel he bended a few laws to help youth rugby in this country ( How can extra money in youth structures be a bad thing in the bigger picture of sa rugby).A few people wants to get him out so that there is better representation in this country.
