Star Players

Hey pplz
I'm just wondering if there is anyway to put one of the star players ability (e.g. huge kick, breaking tackles) on a player
I know how to put a star on them but if there is any way to put the ability on please let me know

I don't think we ever figured it out, and as you can't make a 'duplicate' of a player like Tana Umaga, all you can do is use the ^ at the end of the player name and max their stats to whatever you need, i.e strength 99 etc.

If you change a players id to a star players id, eg: Rename Tana Umanga profile to say Ma Nonu, and change the stats accordingly. Does Ma Nonu then act like the star player by breaking more tackles and making more turnovers Like Umana does in the game? Or is this determined by stats alone and the ^ sign?

I think its Evol's roster, where someone switched Ibanez and Spencer around, so that Ibanez has a star... any whooo, when ibanez does the goal kicking, he kicks in the style of carlos... maybe there specialist skill stays intact with the actual player

I think it must be related to player ID because the kicking power doesn't seem to be controlled by the actual stats and abilities. Some players have immense power which can't be replicated.

I didn't do it, i discovered this on one of the modders rosters...

Yer I know what ya mean. I think French centre Jauzion also has been given a star that is not originally his. His player id has been swapped with Nyanga in one of the rosters I have.

i think you have to use biggui, open the script file in the motion folder in the data folder. then you will see loads of stuff like new kick carter or new kick wilkinson or lineout 1 or new kick generic. you get the point. then you ectract which one you want. it is a viv file and somehow(i dont know how) you open it with biggui and there will be two files under the .viv file heading, change the id code to whatever player you want like a created francois steyn and extract it again and delete the old one. then put it in the directory of rugby 08 or 06 and steyn will have carters big boot and place kick technique(carter will still hav it aswell of course).


hope this helps and if no one understands i will post in a new thread a word doc. explaining again. im sorry i dont know how to change the player id but hopefully a smart computer guy will know (eg:teh mite)

is it possible to just put a star above any players head? just for the sake of it, scotland lacks any impact players.

To make a 'star' player, just add ^ after the name. To actually give a star ability, then i think savundra's trick would work. If this works, it'll be epic.

I have extracted the script.big and then found the files savundra is talking about.. it seems to be a long old file (130mb) with many many files, but only a few for the impact players. lot of which aren't actually the impact players in the game!

In this case i used 06 files and found a kick file for steyn. The .viv files open and import/export the same as .big files. There is two files inside the .viv, and one .bnk file. If you open the .bnk with a hex editor.

I just also opened Carter's files in both 06 and 08, and they are identical.. actually they are the 06 files, and i can't see any matching of ID's. So i'm not sure how it works. I guess this also controls the haka too.
